Padstow is a charming port town in Cornwall, South West England. Cornwall is one of the UK's most famous tourist regions, known for its scenic landscapes, wild coastlines and rich Celtic history and a specially "doggy lifestyle" .

The people of Padstow are a community that is deeply connected to the traditions and history of the area. Many people living there work in the tourism industry, as the town is very popular with tourists, especially during the summer season. Padstow is known for its beautiful scenery, historic buildings and traditional festivals, such as Obby Oss, which takes place every year on May 1st.

When visiting Padstow you will notice dogs walking with people, dogs sitting in bars and restaurants... in short Padstow is a dog town, with the added attraction of people.

For every human walking, there are several dogs. Dog breeds are incredibly diverse.

Padstow is home to a number of Georgian and Victorian period buildings. These historic structures are often characterised by their elegant facades, symmetry and use of local building materials.

Cornwall is situated on a peninsula of the same name, surrounded by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the Celtic Sea. It has many spectacular cliffs, sandy beaches and wild moors.

Occasionally, Padstow hosts events specifically dedicated to dog owners and their four-legged friends, such as dog treat fairs and dog lovers' meetings.

As a port town, many of the buildings and structures are related to shipping and fishing. The quayside and surrounding areas are the focal point of the town and their architecture reflects its maritime heritage.

The town centre has the narrow, winding streets that are typical of many older Cornish villages. These streets add to Padstow's charm and are perfect for exploring on foot.

The town’s modern history has also been shaped by celebrity chef Rick Stein, whose restaurants and hotels in Padstow fit into the local architectural landscape, although they are more contemporary in style.

Many of Padstow’s cafes and restaurants are dog-friendly, meaning you can enjoy your meal with your pooch. Some establishments even offer special dog treats.

One of the most traditional dishes served throughout the UK, and also popular in Padstow, is fish and chips. This simple but incredibly tasty dish consists of pieces of fish, usually cod or haddock, which are breaded and deep fried, and served with chips. Fish and chips are best freshly prepared, often served in a newspaper with toppings such as mashed peas, tartar sauce or malt vinegar. The long queue for this local delicacy, then eaten on a bench on the docks straight from the newspaper, is one of the must-see attractions.

Camel Bay is tidal, which affects both the port traffic and the marine life in the area. At low tide, there are exposed areas of mud and sand that become habitats for birds and other organisms. At high tide, the waters return, filling the bay and allowing ships to move freely around the port.
