EXHIBITION
The inspiration for the design and visualisation of the photographic project ‘Life on Mars’ came from a trip to the Canary Islands. On one of the volcanic islands called Lanzarote, the landscape was a perfect match for Mars. The inspiration arose to create a certain utopian vision, the best possible vision of life on Mars. On the sparsely fertile land, the inhabitants struggled to build houses and set up settlements where they tried to both grow crops and raise animals.
The volcanic landscape conveys that extraordinary raw and unearthly climate that could be compared to that on Mars.
A created reserve, a settlement in which people would live could look similar to our earthly life.
Growing crops on land that has been transported from Earth
People living on Mars would be doing completely mundane things, the lack of industry and the internet would change daily life.
Food production, agriculture, handicrafts would return again as basic forms of development and human stability
